Each owner of a land plot, going to build a greenhouse with their own hands, thinks about what material it will be built from, since it is the framework of the greenhouse that is the basis of everything buildings, we will focus on the types of frames.
Perhaps someone will object that the foundation is first of all the foundation, and he will be right. But if you decide to make a collapsible greenhouse, then the foundation will not be needed in this case. For people permanently residing outside the city, a collapsible greenhouse is most likely an extra headache. But for summer residents who leave for the city for the entire winter period, this option is very suitable. After all, it is no secret that while urban residents spend the winter months in their cozy apartments, their dachas are being raided by intruders. And not finding valuable things, they can easily break everything that comes to hand, or even worse, just remove the same polycarbonate and take it with them.
Before you start building frame for a greenhouse with your own hands, you need to decide what kind of coating will be used - film, glass or polycarbonate.
You can make a frame from many materials:
What good is a tree? In terms of its durability, wood cannot be equal to metal, but if it is treated with appropriate preparations, then it can last for a long time. I think it will last 15-20 years. The main thing is to isolate it well from contact with soil and moisture.
Metal profiled pipes of square or rectangular section have now gained wide popularity. Due to their design, they have sufficient strength and rigidity at low weight to withstand wind and snow loads. For the construction of greenhouses, such pipes are a very suitable material. The fastening of metal profile pipes is carried out by welding, which, of course, contributes to the creation of the strongest connections. However, if it is impossible to use the welding machine, metal pipes can be connected to each other by bolts, or by metal screws.
Metal-plastic pipes for a greenhouse, I think, not a good idea. It is better to adapt them as arcs for low film greenhouses. The same can be said about polypropylene pipes or other polymer pipes from the same family.
Fiberglass is a new material, and like everything new, it is quite expensive. But its technical characteristics are impressive:
Such characteristics make it possible to build from fiberglass not only light greenhouses, but even low-rise frame houses, hangars, stairs and so on. In terms of strength, fiberglass is similar to aluminum.
For wireframe polycarbonate greenhouses the dimensions of the cells are not so important, since it is mounted vertically, and here it is important to observe the dimensions between the vertical posts, corresponding to the dimensions of the polycarbonate sheet. For the strength of the whole structure, you can also make one transverse vein here, to which polycarbonate sheets are attached.
